Using specific examples from the book, discuss and analyze how Tim Meeker and his town, Redding, Connecticut experienced the war. In what ways did the war impact the town and the lives of its residents? How did it affect the Meeker family specifically? What are the authors trying to reveal to us about the war though these characters and this town? Finally, how do the experiences described in the book compare to your previous beliefs about the American Revolution? Does the way we as a society tend to remember the American Revolution square with the experiences of Tim Meeker, the Meeker family, and the people of Redding Connecticut?
