Directions:
Your assignment is to conduct some research to identify 3 major events that took place during the month/year : APRIL/1997 and in the country in which you were born USA.
The idea is for you to conduct some research into the culture that existed during this time period. You are to examine major news events, sports results, entertainment events, great inventions, as well as other culturally specific material (popular music. TV shows, fashion, technology . . .) that contributed to the aura of this time in history. I am looking for you to identify 3 major events/items that occurred or existed (other then your birth) that were culturally significant during the year and in the place (culture) of your birth. The purpose of this assignment is to gain some insight into the culture you were born into, which has had some influence on the person you are today.

I wanted to give you some further clarification on what I expect in your “Happy Birthday to Me” Assignment. Please use the following guidelines to help you in your creation of this assignment.
I will allow it to be any events that happened in your BIRTH YEAR, which is a bit expanded in time line and offer more events.
I do not put a page length on this as it can vary, but you must thoroughly describe the events with good detail and outside experts who comment on the events.
Be thorough and not just list the events but describe them and tell of their importance on the present day.
Please also use terms and concepts we have studied from the text to help support why these events were such an influential impact on society. At least 3 terms should be used throughout the paper. Boldface your use of terms so your intent sticks out.

Each of your 3 Events should contain a minimum of a paragraph per each event consisting of 7-12 sentences.
You should thoroughly describing the event, its impact on your life and the shaping of your life. You should also explain how that event shaped the international and American culture at large. Possibly explore how culture would have been shaped differently had that event not have occurred. Describe how your intercultural world view would have been different if that event had not occurred.
In your final paragraph link the three events together and show how together they shaped and impacted the culture at large and whether we are a better culture or worse culture because of the impact of all three events. Tell why you think this. This summary paragraph should be a minimum of 6 sentences.
Throughout the paper, please reference at least 3 TERMS, CONCEPTS, OR PRINCIPLES from the text that apply to this event. show your mastery of the text by identifying key concepts from the first 6 chapters that sufficiently describe why the event happened, why the event had the consequences it had on international culture, and how your life was shaped with a concept within this event. Show me that you can identify with the text and reveal a practical application of its concepts as you review your life and the international culture at large.
