In a moment, I will be publishing a PRACTICE WRITING EXERCISE for you, which should show up in your “To-Do” list in our class Canvas site. You should use this activity to get Proctorio set up on your computer and to practice using it. Proctorio is an online system that will monitor and record you while you complete the assignment. The exercise will be available to you until 4:00 p.m. tomorrow, Thursday, June 18th. You will be able to practice as many times as you want until 4:00 on 6/18.
After you familiarize yourself with Proctorio and get it set on your computer, you will take a mandatory OFFICIAL WRITING TEST on Friday, June 19th from 9:00 until 9:40 a.m. (California Time). For this test, you will be writing on a prompt that will be visible at the start of the writing period. You will have only one chance to complete the writing test. If you encounter a technical issue that disrupts you while you are completing the assignment, you will need to immediately confer with a Proctorio agent on how to get back into the test. You will automatically receive instruction how to do this should an incident occur.
You must arrange not to be interrupted during the official Writing Test. You may not use or consult any devices other than the computer you are writing on, and you may not consult the Internet or any texts or people. You may not leave your computer during the course of the writing. No other people should be present in the room at any time.
This writing assignment is being required of you because your access of another student’s Canvas site has raised certain concerns about your work and that of the other student. Please email me to confirm that you have received this message, and let me know if you have questions.
